¹Headcount enrollment includes both full-time and part-time enrolled freshman students, including those admitted through special access programs. Special access programs include the University Challenge for Excellence Program, Pitt Engineering Impact Program, Provisional Engineering Program, Summer Transitional Education Program, Office of Continuing Education, New Careers Program, and recruited student-athletes.

In addition to the four schools listed, first-time, first-year students enroll in the two-year Dental Hygiene program offered through Dental Medicine and in baccalaureate programs offered through General Studies. In Fall Term, 1998, for example, Dental Medicine enrolled 11 and General Studies enrolled 79 first-time, first-year students.
